The Town Council of Almoradí has initiated the project called ‘Sustainable, Digital and Integrated Almoradí’ with a total budget of three hundred and ninety thousand euros, half of which is funded by the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness. This effort focuses on installing twenty-one new surveillance cameras and six radar systems that do not issue fines. The aim is to enhance safety and control incivility in local streets.

Luciano Martínez, the councillor for Modernisation, stated that this initiative is part of the government’s goal to decrease vehicle speeds in areas with high traffic. Current technology includes intelligent signalling for pedestrian crossings to improve road safety and potentially prevent accidents in the future. Martínez noted that existing cameras have already greatly benefited local traffic enforcement and investigations by law enforcement.

In addition to the security measures, the project will incorporate systems to count people in various locations, specifically in the Constitution Square and busy pedestrian streets. These devices will help determine public attendance at events and support urban planning.

The Mayor of Almoradí, María Gómez, emphasised the importance of sustainable urban mobility and technological integration to create a more effective local administration. The launch of ‘Almoradí Connect’ will allow citizens to book tickets for events, and improvements to the municipal website and incident management systems are underway, ensuring better access to local services.
