Los Alcázares is set to welcome the Splash-IN Hydroaviation Festival from the second to the fourth of May. This event will feature pilots from various countries participating in a mix of exhibitions, competitions, and historical presentations. Six hydroplanes, including three from Spain, as well as participants from Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, have already confirmed their attendance. The local government anticipates more registrations soon, as stated by Economic Development Councillor Pedro José Sánchez.

The festival will kick off on Friday, the second of May, with hydroplanes arriving at Manzanares Beach. The next day will offer a range of activities, including the Schneider Cup ‘Twenty First Century’ competition, which tests pilots’ skills without the help of modern technology. Additionally, flight simulators will be available for public enjoyment at the beach.

Mayor Mario Pérez Cervera remarked that Splash-IN aims to be a gathering spot for aviation enthusiasts while educating the public on the history of hydroplanes, specifically highlighting Los Alcázares’ significance as the home of Spain’s first hydroplane base. Guided tours of the Aeronautical Museum will occur throughout the weekend alongside expert-led lectures and children’s workshops.

This year’s event promises an engaging experience for families, with something for everyone. As the weekend unfolds, locals and visitors can expect to witness impressive hydroplane manoeuvres and immerse themselves in both aviation history and modern innovations.
