The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the councillor for Non-Governmental Organizations, Trudy Páze, and the president of the Alzheimer Association for Families and Friends of Torrevieja, Purificación García, announced this morning the approval of a project for a new Day Centre dedicated to Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. This decision was made during a session of the Local Government Board.

The planned Day Centre is to be located on a plot adjacent to the Quirón Hospital in Torrevieja, covering an area of seven thousand nine hundred and two square metres. It is set to have a total buildable area of two thousand seven hundred square metres, depending on the solutions proposed by bidders in response to specific needs.

The bidding budget for drafting the project stands at two hundred ninety-nine thousand seven hundred forty-nine euros and sixty-seven cents, including VAT. The deadline for proposal submissions is thirty days from tomorrow, with projections indicating the project could be completed by the end of this year, paving the way for the construction works to begin in late twenty twenty-five or early twenty twenty-six.

The Day Centre will feature multiple facilities tailored for specialized care, including activity rooms, rehabilitation, and therapy areas. The president of AFA Torrevieja expressed gratitude towards the mayor and councillor for their involvement, noting the growing demand for such a centre, with a waiting list of up to thirty-five individuals currently.
