Yellow heat alert extended across Valencia province

The Valencian Government’s Emergency Coordination Centre has extended a yellow alert for high temperatures to the entire province of Valencia. Schools in Orihuela Costa are exceeding official capacity by around 600 places as enrolment opens for the new academic year. The three coastal Infant and Primary schools have about 1,730 pupils enrolled, despite having space for 1,260. Loggerhead turtle lays 106 eggs on Denia beach

A loggerhead turtle has laid 106 eggs on the Marineta Casiana beach in Denia, in Alicante province, marking the first recorded nesting on the Valencian coast in 2026. The turtle, named Diana, is the same animal that nested in the area in 2023 and 2025. Man dies after being pulled from sea at El Portús beach

A 35-year-old man has died after being rescued from the sea at El Portús beach in Cartagena on Sunday evening, according to the Murcia region’s 1-1-2 emergency services. The Emergency Coordination Centre received a call at 19:15 reporting that a man had been pulled from the water unconscious and that cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres were under way. Record tropical night in Benidorm as heatwave begins across Valencia region

Benidorm has recorded its highest minimum temperature since records began, as an intense spell of heat grips the Valencian Community. The State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, said temperatures in the town did not fall below 28.9°C overnight from Saturday into Sunday, surpassing the previous record of 27.1°C set on 2 August 2017. Torrevieja to mark San Juan with beach bonfires tomorrow night

Torrevieja will celebrate the traditional Night of San Juan bonfires tomorrow, Tuesday 23 June, across four beaches: La Mata, El Cura, Los Locos and Los Náufragos. Daily lifeguard service begins on Santa Pola beaches for summer season

Santa Pola will launch its daily summer lifeguard service from 20 June, with cover in place until 6 September across the entire coastline. Levante and Gran Playa will operate from 10:30 to 20:30, while other beaches and coves will be staffed from 11:00 to 19:00. A mid-season timetable will apply for the following two September weekends. Torrevieja to launch new paid urban bus service from 1 July

Torrevieja Council has confirmed that its new urban bus service is expected to begin on 1 July, following approval of the fare structure by the local government board.
