Man dies after being pulled from sea at El Portús beach

A 35-year-old man has died after being rescued from the sea at El Portús beach in Cartagena on Sunday evening, according to the Murcia region’s 1-1-2 emergency services.

The Emergency Coordination Centre received a call at 19:15 reporting that a man had been pulled from the water unconscious and that cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres were under way.

Civil Protection officers from Cartagena, the Guardia Civil and an ambulance from the 061 Health Emergencies and Urgencies Service were sent to the scene. Despite efforts by paramedics to revive the man, who was believed to be around 35 years old, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
