Alicante-Elche Airport records nearly twenty million passengers in record-breaking year

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has finished 2025 with almost 20 million passengers, marking the busiest year in its history. According to airport operator Aena, a total of 19,950,394 travellers passed through the terminal, an increase of 8.5 per cent compared with 2024, representing more than 1.5 million additional passengers. International travel boosts Corvera Airport as domestic numbers fall

The Region of Murcia International Airport at Corvera has ended 2025 just short of the one million passenger mark, as rising international demand offset a decline in domestic travel. PSOE demands urgent overhaul of Torrevieja’s municipal buildings

The Socialist Party in Torrevieja has submitted a motion to the Town Hall calling for the urgent rehabilitation of municipal properties, better protection of historic buildings, and a gradual reduction in spending on rented offices. The Provincial Court of Alicante has sentenced the former mayor of Orihuela, Mónica Lorente, and eight other people over irregularities in the awarding of the town’s waste collection and street cleaning contract. The Segura River Authority has said there is no record of any pollution spill in the Vega Baja after large amounts of foam appeared on the River Segura on the fifth and sixth of January. The incident coincided with heavy rainfall and an increase in river flow following water releases from the Santomera reservoir.
