Torrevieja Council’s Older People’s Department, led by councillor Inmaculada Montesinos, has organised eight activities to mark the International Day of Older Persons. The programme runs from 18 September to 4 October and aims to encourage participation, social interaction and an active lifestyle.

Events begin with a gala at San Pascual Older People’s Centre on 18 September, followed by a hippie party at the Municipal Leisure Centre on 23 September. A centres’ gathering will take place at Parque de las Naciones on 25 September, while La Mata will host a rockabilly party on 27 September.

The Older Persons’ Olympics will be held at Restituto Marroquí Older People’s Centre on 29 September, with teams of six required to register by 27 September. The following day, the Municipal Leisure Centre will host a photography competition exhibition and trophy presentation.

The main event will be a gala at Torrevieja Municipal Theatre on 1 October at 6pm, featuring several dance and music groups. The programme will close on 4 October at Pedro Lorca Older People’s Centre with ‘Women in Red and Men in Black’. Some activities require tickets or advance registration.
