Spain’s Guardia Civil has arrested a 43-year-old Romanian man in Torrevieja, Alicante, who was wanted by German authorities over his alleged involvement in a homicide involving assault and serious injuries.

Officers from Torrevieja’s main station encountered the man during a routine security operation in a residential area. They became suspicious when he appeared to be avoiding them and stopped him to check his identity. The document he produced appeared to be foreign and potentially fraudulent.

After taking him to official premises, investigators confirmed his identity and discovered several outstanding judicial requests. These included a European Arrest Warrant issued by Germany, as well as two further warrants issued by a court in Almería.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of document fraud and appeared before the duty investigating section of Torrevieja’s Court of Instance. The European Arrest Warrant proceedings have been referred to the Central Court of Instance, based at Spain’s National Court, which will handle any potential surrender to Germany.
