Orihuela Council has expanded its municipal network of semiautomatic external defibrillators with seven new outdoor devices. The move is intended to strengthen the resources available for immediate action when someone suffers a cardiac arrest.

Four devices are already installed and operational in La Aparecida, Entrenaranjos, Desamparados and the Playa Flamenca promenade. The council plans to install three more in Hurchillo, Arneva and Raiguero de Bonanza in the coming weeks. They will join outdoor defibrillators already located in La Matanza, Torremendo, La Murada, Virgen del Camino and Barbarroja.

Orihuela currently has 50 operational defibrillators across municipal buildings, outdoor spaces and council vehicles. Once the three pending devices become operational, the network will reach 53, with further expansion planned.

The installations are being supported by information sessions and training for council staff and residents. More than 450 people have already been trained. The council says anyone can use a device in an emergency, even without specific training, because it gives step-by-step instructions, analyses the heart rhythm and helps contact emergency services while medical resources are sent.
