The Guardia Civil has arrested four people in Torrevieja who were the subject of European Arrest Warrants issued by judicial authorities in Sweden and Poland. Officers from the town’s main post made the arrests during routine preventive checks aimed at identifying people wanted by the courts and improving public safety.

The first detainee was a 30-year-old Swedish man wanted in Sweden in connection with kidnapping, unlawful detention and theft. On the same day, officers arrested another Swedish man wanted over drug-trafficking offences and to serve a prison sentence of one year and four months in Sweden.

In the following days, officers arrested a 55-year-old Polish man wanted over attempted murder, kidnapping and illegal possession of weapons. They also detained a 22-year-old Swedish man wanted over a public health offence.

After the relevant proceedings were completed, all four detainees were brought before the National Court’s Central Investigating Court in Madrid. The court will decide whether they should be remanded in custody for extradition or released.
