A minor earthquake has been felt in Torrevieja during the early hours of Sunday. The tremor occurred at 2.17am, with its epicentre in the centre of Torrevieja lagoon, according to data from Spain’s National Geographic Institute and information shared by Proyecto Mastral.
The earthquake had a magnitude of 1.3. Some residents in the area were able to feel it as a slight vibration or brief shake, but the event caused no injuries or material damage.
The tremor forms part of the usual seismic activity recorded in south-east Spain, particularly in Alicante, Murcia, Granada and AlmerÃa. Several similar events have been recorded in Alicante province during the summer.
