Torrevieja Local Police have seized 155 products suspected of being counterfeit after stopping a vehicle for failing to obey a STOP sign on Sunday afternoon. The traffic offence led officers to inspect the car, where they found four bags containing sports clothing and footwear.
The haul included 54 pairs of trainers and 101 sports kits bearing Nike and Adidas branding. Police said the driver was known to officers for allegedly carrying out unauthorised street sales in the Paseo MarÃtimo area.
According to police, the driver admitted that the goods were counterfeit and said he did not have invoices proving their origin. Officers seized all the products and began precautionary proceedings over a suspected offence against industrial property. The affected brands have also been informed.
The operation forms part of local police checks targeting unauthorised street trading and the sale of counterfeit goods in Torrevieja.
