Torrevieja recorded 10,089 criminal offences in 2025, an increase of 8.3% compared with 2024, when 9,316 offences were registered. The figures from Spain’s Interior Ministry include 9,067 conventional crimes and 1,022 cybercrimes.

The most serious offences included one completed homicide, four attempted homicides, 150 cases of assault and disorder, one kidnapping and 87 offences against sexual freedom. Of those, 26 were sexual assaults involving penetration. The largest categories were theft and fraud, including 2,953 thefts, 895 computer fraud offences, 655 burglaries and 314 robberies involving violence or intimidation.

Torrevieja accounted for 9.1% of all offences recorded in Alicante province and ranked second among the province’s municipalities, behind Alicante city. Local and government authorities say the increase partly reflects population growth, greater public awareness of reporting cybercrime, and more police resources. The city’s official population exceeded 100,400 in 2025, while the local register put the figure above 113,000.

The total fell slightly in the first quarter of 2026, with 2,008 offences compared with 2,101 during the same period last year. However, computer fraud rose from 179 to 205 cases, while thefts increased from 519 to 531. Officials have warned that first-quarter figures do not reflect the impact of summer visitors and the city’s large floating population.
