Torrevieja Local Police, working with the Unit for Investigations and Reports, has carried out a vehicle and documentation check on Avenida Monge y Bielsa. The operation resulted in several traffic-related actions and proceedings for two alleged criminal offences.
Officers detected two drivers who were over the legal alcohol limit. They have started proceedings for alleged offences against road safety under Article 379.2 of Spain’s Penal Code, which covers driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the legally permitted limit.
The operation also identified a driver using a licence that was not valid in Spain despite having been resident in the country for more than six months. Officers reported the matter to the Provincial Traffic Headquarters. A further driver was reported for travelling without wearing a seat belt. Police said the checks are intended to strengthen traffic controls and improve safety on the municipality’s roads.
