Police in Orihuela Costa have intercepted a driver who allegedly fled on foot after causing a traffic collision involving a family. The family was travelling to breakfast when a white vehicle hit them, leaving those involved needing medical attention for bruising.
The driver reportedly left the scene after the crash and hid among some bushes. When officers found him, he ran away, prompting a pursuit on foot that ended with his interception.
A breathalyser test recorded 0.62 milligrams of alcohol per litre of exhaled air. Police said the man faces a suspected offence against road safety because of the result.
The Local Police has again warned about the dangers of drink-driving and its potential consequences for other road users. Its message is: “If you drink, do not drive.”
