Torrevieja mayor Eduardo Dolón has again called on the Transport Ministry to tender and build the planned dual carriageway on the N-332 through the municipality. He says the council has requested a meeting with Transport Minister Óscar Puente, or officials from the relevant directorates, more than 100 times without securing a substantive response.

The council says the road carries more than 60,000 vehicles a day, with traffic increasing during holiday periods. It says the congestion causes regular queues, longer journeys and difficulties entering and leaving Torrevieja. Dolón has described the project as essential for road safety, mobility and the town’s economic and tourist development.

The mayor has also criticised Puente for failing to deliver on a public commitment to tender the works during 2025. The project has been under discussion for more than two decades, with the Ministry approving the drafting of the scheme in 2018 and approving an environmental impact report for the chosen route in early 2025.

The planned works cover roughly four kilometres between the CV-95, near the hospital, and the CV-905. Dolón says the council will continue demanding immediate action and has accused the Government of offering administrative acknowledgements rather than dates or explanations for the delay.
