Orihuela Council has raised €23,161,915, including VAT, from the sale of three municipal development plots in Orihuela Costa, surpassing its initial asking price by €1.54 million. The final figure represents a 7.14% increase on the starting price, following eight bids from seven companies.

The land totals just over 38,000 square metres and could accommodate up to 255 homes. The largest increase was recorded for a plot in La Cuerda, which rose by nearly 14% to almost €7 million. A second plot in La Ciñuelica also saw a significant rise, while a third in the luxury Colinas Golf development accounted for €11.3 million – more than half of the total revenue.

The sale has yet to be formally confirmed, pending any appeals and final paperwork. The names of the successful bidders have not been made public.

The council’s ruling Partido Popular and Vox administration says the funds will be reinvested in Orihuela Costa, with a focus on water infrastructure. Plans include new резервoirs and supply improvements to support the area’s 30,000 registered residents, a figure that increases significantly during the summer months.
