National Police have arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang accused of carrying out violent robberies and thefts across south-east Spain.
The suspects were detained in Los Alcázares and Alicante following an investigation into a series of incidents in different towns in the region. Officers say the group travelled extensively in order to commit the crimes.
According to police, the gang used methods known as ‘la siembra’ and ‘el pinchazo’. These tactics typically involve distracting victims or damaging a vehicle to create an opportunity to steal belongings.
Investigators are also linking the four suspects to further offences in Lorca and Hellín. Enquiries are continuing to determine the full extent of the group’s alleged activities.
