Benidorm Local Police have begun efforts to locate the relatives of a deceased person after a funeral urn containing ashes was discovered in a supermarket locker in the town.
The urn was found yesterday morning by the store manager while carrying out a routine inspection of lockers used by customers to store their belongings. The supermarket alerted police shortly after the discovery.
Police spokesperson Quique Tortosa said officers are making enquiries to identify and contact the family, but so far no relatives have been traced. An image of the urn has been shared on social media, and the public has been asked to come forward with any information that may help identify its owners.
If no family members can be located, the Local Police have said the urn will be transferred to the municipal cemetery for safekeeping.
