Torrevieja Council has opened a new park-and-ride car park on a municipal plot located between Avenida de la Estación, Calle Ciudad de Barcelona, Camino del Acequión and the N-332. The project represents an investment of 35,515 euros and is intended to increase parking options close to the town centre.

The 7,048-square-metre site had previously been unused. Work has included clearing and levelling the land, removing waste and laying and compacting a gravel surface to allow vehicle access and parking. Two access points have been created from Avenida de la Estación and Calle Ciudad de Barcelona.

The council has described the scheme as provisional and reversible, meaning the land’s long-term planning designation remains unchanged. The permeable gravel surface also preserves ground drainage while helping to reduce inappropriate parking and improve road safety in the surrounding area.

The new facility forms part of wider municipal plans to expand parking provision near the town centre and port. Four additional park-and-ride sites are planned, expected to provide more than 3,900 spaces, including accessible bays and improved pedestrian links to central Torrevieja.
