San Pedro del Pinatar has added a new three-seater buggy to reinforce Local Police patrols along the coastline. The vehicle was presented on Wednesday by the mayor, Pedro Javier Sánchez, and the councillor for Local Police, Pedro Antonio Vivancos.

The buggy cost 28,554.97 euros and was funded through a 94,000-euro grant from the Regional Government of Murcia. The funding has also supported improvements at the town’s Integrated Security Centre, including refurbishment of the detainee holding area.

The four-wheel-drive vehicle has a reinforced chassis, power steering and a towing capacity of 585 kilogrammes. It is fully adapted for police use, with optical and acoustic signalling, a siren, winch and high-visibility markings, allowing officers to access hard-to-reach coastal areas more easily.

The mayor said the addition forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen Local Police resources. The council is also preparing to award a contract for around 150 new public security cameras, alongside other recent investments including new vehicles, technical equipment and additional officers.
