San Pedro del Pinatar Council has presented a three million euro package of improvements for the seafront areas of La Puntica and Villananitos. The project forms part of the Plan de Sostenibilidad Turística en Destino and is funded through the European Union’s NextGenerationEU recovery programme.

The scheme includes the maintenance, repainting and renaturalisation of the cycle lane along both promenades, aimed at improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians while creating a greener urban environment. New pergolas with seating have been installed to provide shade, alongside ornamental lighting and decorative water features to enhance the waterfront.

A new fixed Tourist Information Office has opened in Villananitos, designed to blend with the coastal setting. A mobile tourist office will support major events and busy areas, while digital totems across the municipality will provide updated information on local attractions, activities, safety advice and environmental awareness.

The mayor, Pedro Javier Sánchez, said the investment strengthens the town’s commitment to sustainability, digital innovation and higher quality public spaces. The improvements add to other recent projects, including upgraded lifeguard posts, a new elevated observation point near the Regional Park, refurbished mud bath facilities, and charging and repair stations for electric bicycles.
