Catral Town Council has approved a new budget modification allocating €750,000 for three major street improvement projects, which are due to be put out to tender and carried out in the coming weeks.

The first project will focus on Avenida de Callosa, one of the town’s main access routes. Works will include pavement renewal, upgraded street lighting, new tree planting and resurfacing of the road.

A second intervention will take place on the extension of Calle San Juan, near the Consum supermarket. A single-level platform will be created to improve pedestrian access and better connect the area with the new CEIP No. 2 and one of the town’s main commercial zones. The street beside CEIP Azorín will also be remodelled with new paving, planters and improved lighting to enhance safety and accessibility.

The investment forms part of a broader municipal plan which, together with an earlier €1.5 million phase already out to tender, is expected to exceed €4 million. Mayor Joaquín Lucas said the programme represents an unprecedented effort to modernise infrastructure and improve quality of life for residents.
