The Guardia Civil has discovered a hidden flock of 29 sheep and goats on an agricultural property in San Miguel de Salinas. The animals had no documentation, identification or veterinary control. Officers have immobilised the flock as a precaution while health authorities determine their status.

The discovery was made by officers from SEPRONA in Guardamar during a routine inspection to monitor animal health conditions and the use of agricultural products. Inside a fenced enclosure concealed among trees, officers found seven adult sheep, 13 goats and nine kids.

The person responsible said the animals were for private use but was unable to provide documents proving their origin, identification or health status. An official vet from the local agricultural office ordered the precautionary immobilisation of the animals pending further assessment by Alicante’s regional agriculture authorities.

Under Valencian livestock law, serious offences can carry fines from 3,001 to 60,000 euros, while very serious breaches can reach 1.2 million euros. The Guardia Civil says regular inspections are carried out to protect animal health and food safety.
