A vegetation fire in Catral has led to a large emergency response near the El Hondo natural park.
The alert was received at 4.33pm on Monday. The fire is located on Camino del Hondo, in an area close to the road to Dolores, according to the Alicante Provincial Firefighters’ Consortium. The operation was still under way at the time of the latest update.
Three heavy rural fire engines have been deployed, along with an MV8 helicopter. A sub-officer, a sergeant, a corporal and nine firefighters from the Crevillent, Almoradí and San Vicente stations are involved. Three forest fire units are also working at the scene.
No injuries have been reported so far. Crews remain focused on containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading further in the area surrounding the natural park.
