Torrevieja City Council has taken a further step towards expanding Torrevieja University Hospital after the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, signed a decree to begin formal processing of an urban planning agreement for the early transfer of land.

The agreement allows for the voluntary early transfer of a public service plot known as PQM-1, located in Sector S-29 La Ceñuela. The site covers 11,492 square metres and is owned by Explotaciones Agrícolas La Ceñuela, S.L., which is also the area’s development agent.

Under this arrangement, the land can be made available to the Valencian regional government before the completion of the wider urban re-parcelling process. Municipal technical services have backed the move, stating that it serves the public interest and will accelerate a priority healthcare infrastructure project without affecting planning regulations or the developer’s economic rights.

The agreement will now be subject to a 20-day public consultation period following publication in the Official Provincial Gazette and on the council’s noticeboard. Once any objections have been reviewed by the Local Government Board, the council will continue the process to finalise the land transfer and enable work on the hospital expansion to proceed as soon as possible.
