Beach handball in Torrevieja has strengthened its place among Spain’s elite after five players from Club Balonmano Mare Nostrum Torrevieja won medals at the Spanish Regional Beach Handball Championships in Calella.

Diego Marín Díaz was the standout performer, representing the Region of Murcia. He helped his side reach the final and secured the silver medal, finishing as Spain’s youth runner-up after an impressive tournament campaign.

Four of his club-mates – Álvaro Bartolomé Fructuoso, Iván Martínez Conesa, Rafael Ruiz-Escribano Gramge and Marcos Alcaina Aniorte – competed for the Valencian regional team. They delivered a strong performance throughout the competition and claimed the bronze medal.

Having five players from the same club represent two regional sides and return home with two national medals underlines the quality of coaching and development at Mare Nostrum Torrevieja. The championships are regarded as one of the most demanding youth beach handball events in Spain, showcasing the country’s most promising young talent.
