Six people have been remanded in custody after the Guardia Civil dismantled an alleged criminal organisation linked to a series of home burglaries in Torrevieja.

The operation, known as “Khachapuri 26”, was led by the ROCA rural crime unit and began on 1 April. Officers initially stopped a man driving a hire car and discovered he was subject to an active arrest warrant. A search of the vehicle uncovered items he could not account for, prompting a wider investigation.

Subsequent surveillance and follow-up inquiries led to several house searches. Officers recovered numerous stolen items, including jewellery, electronic devices and other valuables. Some of the property has already been returned to its rightful owners. Specialist locksmith tools, capable of opening locks without visible signs of forced entry, were also seized.

The six suspects, aged between 27 and 36, have been charged with burglary and membership of a criminal group. They have appeared before the Investigating Court in Torrevieja, which ordered their pre-trial detention. The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify additional victims and return outstanding property.
