The Valencian Government’s Emergency Coordination Centre has extended a yellow alert for high temperatures to the entire province of Valencia. The warning also remains active along the southern coast of Alicante.
The decision was announced in an updated meteorological bulletin issued at 7pm on Monday. Earlier in the day, at 11.55am, the alert had applied only to northern inland areas and the coast of Valencia, as well as the southern Alicante coastline.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the Valencian Community, the heat episode is expected to begin at 1pm on Tuesday 23 June. Authorities are advising residents to take precautions during the hottest part of the day, particularly vulnerable groups such as older people and young children.
