Torrevieja will celebrate the traditional Night of San Juan bonfires tomorrow, Tuesday 23 June, across four beaches: La Mata, El Cura, Los Locos and Los Náufragos. The event marks the unofficial start of summer and attracts residents of all ages each year.

Celebrations will take place from 20:00 until 02:00, after which revellers will be asked to leave so that cleaning can begin. The council’s street cleaning department will deploy a special reinforcement team overnight to clear the four beaches.

Around 60 personnel, including Local Police, Civil Guard officers and Civil Protection volunteers, will form part of the security operation. Four ambulances will be on standby, and a first aid post with stretchers will operate on Los Náufragos beach.

The council will provide approximately 30,000 kilos of pine and mimosa wood, which produces no residue. Only authorised wood may be used, and bonfires should not exceed one metre in height for safety reasons. Visitors are urged to act responsibly and leave rubbish beside litter bins before departing.
