Business representatives have proposed the introduction of regulated parking zones in the areas of La Manga facing the greatest parking pressure. The suggestion was put forward on Wednesday during a coordination meeting with the council, neighbourhood associations and business groups from the coast.

The meeting focused on security, mobility and community relations ahead of the busy summer season. One of the main concerns discussed was the ongoing presence of illegal parking attendants, commonly known as “gorrillas”, particularly around Plaza Bohemia.

Participants also examined traffic circulation during the high season, when visitor numbers increase significantly and congestion becomes a recurring problem. Business leaders argued that clearer parking management could ease pressure on both residents and tourists.

Further measures to improve road safety in La Manga and Cabo de Palos were also considered, as local authorities and community groups look to balance tourism demand with safety and quality of life for residents.
