Valencia has struggled through a week of tropical nights, with temperatures consistently failing to fall below 20°C. In the early hours of Tuesday 16 June, the city recorded a minimum of 20.8°C at 6.40am, the highest overnight temperature anywhere in the Valencian Community that day, according to Aemet.

The heat has also been intense during the day. Valencia reached 34.4°C on 15 June, while Orihuela recorded the highest temperature in the region at 35.9°C later that afternoon.

The run of warm nights began on 9 June and has persisted for most of the past week, with several minima hovering around or above the 20°C mark. Although there was a brief dip to 18.4°C on 13 June, the respite was short-lived as temperatures climbed again.

Aemet has warned that even hotter conditions are on the way. A new mass of warm air is expected to raise maximum temperatures across much of the Valencian Community, increasing the likelihood that tropical nights will continue in the days ahead.
