Torrevieja City Council has launched a new grants programme worth up to 35,000 euros to support sports events and activities during 2026. The initiative, led by Sports Councillor Diana Box Alonso, aims to promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen the city’s position as a leading sports destination in the Valencian Community and across Spain.

The call for applications has been published in the Official Gazette of Alicante Province. It is open to non-profit associations based in Torrevieja and registered with the Municipal Associations Register, as well as regional and national sports federations organising official competitions in the city.

Eligible associations may submit up to two separate applications for different events, which will be assessed independently under the scheme’s criteria. Applications must be submitted online via the City Council’s electronic headquarters between 10 June and 1 July 2026, inclusive.

The council says the funding forms part of its wider strategy to promote sport and sports tourism. Officials believe major competitions and events bring thousands of visitors each year, generating economic activity while reinforcing Torrevieja’s reputation as an active and healthy city.
