Alicante’s Local Police have taken part this week in an international exchange with officers from Austin, Texas, and the German state of Hessen as part of the Star Internacional programme.

Three American officers and one German officer joined the initiative. During their stay, they accompanied a municipal patrol on duty at Postiguet beach and visited the Local Police headquarters to learn more about the force’s facilities and technical resources.

Star Internacional is a non-profit association made up of officers from different countries. It promotes professional development through exchange programmes between police services and also supports charitable campaigns linked to illnesses and social issues, including cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, hearing loss, childhood trauma and bullying.

Alicante’s Security Councillor, Julio Calero, has said the exchanges are valuable because they allow officers to share professional and personal experiences, explore new working methods and build international networks with colleagues from countries such as the United States, Germany and Switzerland.
