The Paseo del Mar shopping centre at Torrevieja Port will open its doors on Thursday 11 June, according to official social media channels launched by the concessionaire. While a formal inauguration will be held at a later date, the centre will begin operating at full capacity despite ongoing redevelopment works in the surrounding port area.

The 8,000 square metre complex, built on a 20,000 square metre site, includes almost 30 restaurant units, two retail outlets, four cinemas operated by NeoCine and a bowling alley run by Ozone. A 600-space underground car park has already been in use for more than a year. The total private investment has reached 61 million euros.

The project forms part of a 50-year port concession awarded by the Generalitat, with the backing of Torrevieja Town Hall. The council has committed more than 42 million euros to reurbanisation works around the port, including new promenades, electrification and improvements to Mínguez Wharf.

Although many of these works are still under way, including access routes and the redevelopment of the former Paseo de la Libertad, the shopping and leisure complex is expected to mark a significant addition to the town’s hospitality and entertainment offer.
