A yellow heat alert has been activated in parts of the Region of Murcia as high temperatures continue at the start of June. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warned that the Vega del Segura and the GuadalentÃn Valley will be affected on Tuesday.
The warning follows a particularly hot weekend across the region, with some areas recording the first tropical nights of the year, when temperatures do not fall below 20C. Although summer has not officially begun, conditions in the streets have already felt distinctly seasonal.
Forecasters have said there will be no immediate relief from the heat as June gets under way. Residents are being advised to take precautions during the hottest parts of the day, especially vulnerable people such as the elderly and young children.
