Torrevieja University Hospital has strengthened its commitment to patient wellbeing with the addition of two new virtual reality headsets for its Day Hospital and Nephrology departments.

The equipment was donated on Thursday by Rotary Club Torrevieja and the local water company Agamed. Both organisations also funded software upgrades for the hospital’s existing devices, expanding their therapeutic and emotional support functions.

Hospital representatives and local officials attended a presentation event at the hospital’s assembly hall. Managers said the initiative reflects a continued focus on placing people at the centre of healthcare, not only supporting physical recovery but also emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Virtual reality is increasingly used in hospitals to reduce stress, anxiety and the emotional impact of certain treatments. Through immersive and calming experiences, patients can feel more relaxed, better manage discomfort and cope more confidently with longer or more complex procedures.
