Torrevieja Town Hall, through its Department of Equality, has organised an awareness initiative aimed at helping residents recognise the early signs of gender violence. The campaign, titled “Te Puede Tocar” – translated as “It Could Happen to You” – will be held on Friday 29 May in Plaza de la Constitución.

Activities will run from 11:00 to 14:00 and again from 16:00 to 19:00. The councillor for Equality, Inmaculada Montesinos, has said the initiative is designed to raise awareness of a persistent and worrying social problem through an interactive and educational approach.

At the centre of the campaign is an interactive wheel displaying common phrases linked to controlling or manipulative behaviour. Participants will be asked to consider whether each statement represents a sign of gender violence, encouraging reflection on attitudes that can lead to abuse.

Organisers have stressed that gender violence can affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and may take physical, psychological, sexual or economic forms. The council has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equality and preventing gender-based violence through education, dialogue and community involvement.
