The Generalitat will launch a new public road passenger service between Vega Baja and Alicante on 1 June. The CE-710 corridor will strengthen connections between 27 municipalities in the comarca and key destinations including Alicante, Elche, Alicante-Elche Airport, the AVE station in Elche, the Universitat d’Alacant and regional hospitals.

Vice-President and Regional Minister for the Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus, presented the contract in Los Montesinos. He said the Generalitat will invest 3.75 million euros annually, as passenger fares alone cannot cover the full cost of the service.

The new network will operate 14 lines with a minimum fleet of 22 vehicles and two reserve units. It will run almost 43,528 services each year and cover around 1.9 million kilometres. Frequencies will increase on routes linking Orihuela, Crevillent, Elche and Alicante, with new direct connections to Alicante-Elche Airport and Torrevieja.

The CE-710 forms part of a wider public transport improvement plan in Vega Baja, alongside the CE-714 and CE-704 corridors. Together, the three contracts represent nearly 10 million euros in annual investment and will operate 28 interurban bus lines. The regional government said the measures are temporary emergency contracts while long-term concessions are developed.
