Torrevieja City Council has approved the transfer of a municipal plot of land to the regional Ministry of Education in response to growing demand for secondary school and sixth form places for the 2026 to 2027 academic year.

The 6,152 square metre site is located in sector 11 of El Pozo Dulce, next to the football ground on Avenida Delfina Viudes. As the land is already classified for public facilities, it can be used immediately for educational purposes.

Town Hall officials say the measure is intended as an urgent response to the continued growth in the school-age population. Forecast demand for the next academic year is expected to exceed current capacity in both Secondary and Bachillerato levels.

The council says that, by making the land available straight away, it will enable the Generalitat to speed up procedures and introduce new educational solutions as quickly as possible, helping to ensure enough school places are available across the town.
