Torrevieja City Council has closed the indoor municipal swimming pool at the Tavi y Carmona Sports Palace after a ventilation duct became detached on the morning of Thursday 14 May 2026. The facility will remain shut until further notice while the cause of the incident is assessed.

The Department of Sports said the decision was taken to guarantee the safety of users. It follows a similar issue identified on 14 April, when an anomaly in the duct’s fixings led to a precautionary closure.

On that occasion, the council referred the matter to SERVEO, the company responsible for maintaining municipal sports facilities. Repairs and checks were carried out, and the pool reopened on Saturday 18 April with assurances it could operate until the planned end of the summer season.

After the latest incident, the council has requested a detailed report from SERVEO on the work undertaken and the possible causes of the new failure. Torrevieja City Council has apologised to users and said it is working to restore the service as quickly and safely as possible.
