Concerns have been raised over the condition of the main municipal bridge serving the large La Hoya development in Torrevieja.
The bridge, which links the neighbourhood with the N-332, operates with a single traffic lane and has no pavements for pedestrians. Residents say this creates difficulties for vehicles travelling in both directions and poses risks for people who need to cross on foot.
A report published on Sunday describes the structure as the principal access point to the area and questions whether it is adequate for the volume of traffic it carries. Locals have called on Torrevieja City Council to consider improvements that would increase safety and ease congestion.
The issue has renewed debate about infrastructure planning in expanding residential areas across the Vega Baja region.
