Torrevieja has retained six Blue Flags for its beaches in 2026, reinforcing its position as one of the leading tourist destinations in the Valencian Community. The international award recognises high standards in water quality, safety, accessibility, public services and environmental management.

The beaches awarded this year are Cala Piteras, Los Náufragos, El Cura, Los Locos, Cabo Cervera and La Mata-Sur. The Blue Flags are granted by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) under strict criteria, including water excellence, lifeguard provision, cleanliness, maintenance and environmental education programmes.

Mayor Eduardo Dolón has said maintaining all six Blue Flags is the result of careful planning, ongoing investment and efficient year-round management. Torrevieja now has more than 110,000 registered residents and sees its population rise significantly during the summer season, placing extra pressure on coastal services.

The council says its tourism strategy is built on environmental sustainability, universal accessibility and high-quality services. Continued investment in infrastructure, modernised facilities and strengthened beach surveillance has been key to maintaining standards and supporting the town’s reputation as a quality Mediterranean destination.
