Spanish National Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in Benidorm who was wanted by the United Kingdom for alleged drug trafficking offences. A European Arrest Warrant had been issued for his detention and surrender. If convicted in the UK, he could face a life sentence.

Investigators say the man was part of a criminal organisation based in Blackburn. Between 2022 and 2024, he allegedly took part in the distribution of cocaine, ketamine and cannabis. He is also accused of helping to launder the proceeds through bank accounts in his own name and in the names of others.

Police say he fled the UK after learning that one of his associates had been arrested. Suspecting he was under investigation in the same case, he left the country, prompting the European warrant for his arrest.

After receiving information that he was in Benidorm, officers launched an operation to locate him. He was arrested in the Alicante resort and later brought before the Central Investigating Court of the National Court, which handles international extradition cases.
