An air display has concluded three days of aviation events in San Javier, in the Region of Murcia, after uncertainty caused by a yellow weather warning for storms.
On Sunday morning, members of the Parachute Acrobatics Patrol, known as PAPEA, debated whether to carry out their planned jump because of the risk of adverse conditions. Clouds and the threat of thunderstorms raised doubts about the ambitious flying schedule.
However, as the morning progressed, the weather improved and the parachutists descended safely through the clouds, completing their display. The event ended with a final aerial parade linked to activities involving the General Air Academy and the Patrulla Águila.
Strategic Projects councillor Héctor Verdú admitted there had been nerves over the forecast, but said the return of sunshine allowed the full programme of flights to go ahead as planned.
