National Police have conducted a significant operation in Cartagena, resulting in the discovery of Spain’s first known illegal opium poppy cultivation. The farm, located in the area of El Beal, was raided by police who found over five hundred opium poppy plants, specifically the species Papaver somniferum.
Currently, two brothers have been arrested in connection with this cultivation. Details of the operation remain under judicial secrecy as investigations continue.
