The National Police have detained a forty-three year old man in Elche following reports of burglary at a local hospital. Security personnel alerted authorities about a man who had been entering patient rooms and restricted medical areas. The suspect was already known to the hospital staff for previous incidents where he had stolen items from other patients’ rooms.

Upon further investigation, security staff found that approximately fourteen lockers designated for medical staff had been forcibly opened. Alerted by this information, the National Police quickly responded to the scene. The suspect was reported to have fled towards a nearby neighbourhood, prompting multiple patrol units to begin a search.

Shortly after, officers located the suspect, who had attempted to escape. In his belongings, they discovered various tools believed to have been used to break into the lockers, along with several items of medical equipment. As a result of these findings, police arrested the man on suspicion of theft.

Following the necessary investigation procedures, the suspect has been handed over to the duty court of Elche, where he faces charges of burglary.
