A three-year-old boy has been injured after a dog attack in the La Murada district of Orihuela. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon, around two thirty, at the junction of Antonio Balaguer street and Camino de los Almendros. Witnesses say the child was playing when the dog, a large mixed breed, broke free from its garage and lunged at him.

Family members nearby quickly responded to the situation, managing to separate the dog from the boy. Their swift actions are credited with preventing the incident from becoming significantly more serious. The child sustained several scratches on his face and back but is receiving medical attention.

Local residents have expressed concern, citing previous dangerous incidents involving the same dog without actual attacks taking place. Despite repeated warnings to the dog’s owner, residents fear for the safety of children in the area. Authorities, including the Local Police and the Civil Guard, have been notified following the incident.

Emergency services, including a Basic Life Support unit, responded to a call received just after two thirty-eight. Upon arrival, medical personnel assessed the boy’s injuries before transporting him to the health centre in Orihuela for further evaluation and care.
