Temperatures are expected to fall across Alicante province, and rain could become torrential in some areas. Climatologist Samuel Biener warned of the risk yesterday, as forecasts brought the expected rainfall forward from the weekend to Thursday, 17 September.
Rain could be locally heavy in inland areas and along the northern coast. Alcoy and Dénia are expected to have very cloudy skies and light rain, while Alicante city, Torrevieja and Elche could be brighter, with a chance of light rain during the first half of the day.
The astronomical autumn equinox will take place on 23 September. However, the meteorological season began on 1 September, in line with Aemet’s system of grouping September, October and November for climate data and statistics.
