Torrevieja Town Council has received the Sports Quality Seal, recognising the work carried out by its Sports Department in managing facilities, programmes, services and physical activity promotion.

The distinction is promoted by Spain’s International Institute for Sports Excellence and Certifications through its Institute for Sports Quality, alongside the Spanish Sports Association. It provides external assurance of the quality of municipal sports policies, facilities and services.

Sports Councillor Diana Box Alonso said the award recognised the joint work of municipal staff, clubs, organisations and everyone involved in sport across the city. She also highlighted Torrevieja’s ability to host competitions and sporting events.

The certification involves regular assessments and annual renewal. The council has said it will continue modernising facilities and developing programmes for grassroots sport and major events, with the aim of strengthening Torrevieja’s position as a sporting destination.
